VISIT RIZZA'S

Serving the communities of Huntly and Lossiemouth
for almost 100 years

Rizza’s started manufacturing ice cream way back in 1914, but it wasn’t from either of our two shops you can visit today.

It all started in Mid Street in Keith, Aberdeenshire. Though interrupted briefly by the First World War, Domenico finally settled — opening our confectionery shop on Gordon Street, Huntly during the 1920s. James, Domenico's brother had located to Banff opening up one of the northeast's first soda fountains however sadly a fire devastated the shop and James and family moved back to Huntly to help with the business.

During 1933, after yet another fire, Domenico (who remained a bachelor throughout his days) came to his brothers aid and moved out of Huntly — eventually taking over the Clifton Road shop in Lossiemouth, which had been converted from a butcher shop into a cafe. He became one of Lossie’s favourite characters, while James ran the Huntly shop.

HUNTLY

Opened in 1928 by Domenico Rizza, our Huntly store has been serving ice cream, confectionary and sweet treats ever since.

RIzza's in Huntly boasts over ice cream 50 flavour options to choose from, as well as offering whippy ice cream using fresh mix supplied from our head office.

LOSSIEMOUTH

In 1933, Domenico’s second venture was taking over the Lossiemouth cafe which had been originally opened by Luigi Zaccharini.

The perfect place for a traditional Rizza’s ice cream in summer, and a hand-warming hot drink in the winter. Rizza's in Lossie, like Huntly, offers up a wide selection of favourites as well as whippy ice cream with several flavour options again.

Looking out onto the Moray coast, we are ideally located for buying a cone and taking a long walk along the beach.
